Tips for Staying in Torba & info on Villa Alemdar

Banks

Bodrum is the place to visit for banking and cash machines so try to remember to take your cards with you when you visit.

Beaches

Although Torba is a small fishing village if you walk down to the centre of Torba, 5 - 10 mins, you will find a long line of narrow beaches.

These are definitely worth exploring and are all owned by the various restaurant and shops directly in front of you.

Use of the loungers is normally free but you are expected to purchase your food and drink from the bar/restaurant behind you.

Do not forget it is very cheap to eat and drink in Turkey.

Buses

The cheapest way to travel around is on the little buses you will get to see all over.

For about 60 pence you can jump on a bus to Bodrum Central and then take another bus to one of your chosen destinations. Most buses will pick you up and drop you off anywhere on route you choose they very often toot you to see if you want to jump on.

Car Hire

The only way to truly discover a new place is by

hiring a car for a few days.

We would recommend you stroll down to Torba until you reach the Club Voyage Hotel just walk in the entrance and on the left hand side you will see a car rental business, "Dinamik Rent a Car".

Speak to Oya and mention where you are staying and she may organise a good price for you.

24 hours notice they need to have a car ready for you and we have some leaflets available for you to look at.

Alternatively you can telephone Oya on 0532 549 0363 she speaks good English.

Currency

Turkey has not joined the EU as yet and their currency is Turkish Lira, although most places accept, Sterling,

The Euro and US Dollars. Most of your larger shops and supermarkets will take credit cards but try to keep a form of ID on you.

There are no cash point machines in Torba but again you can change money up at one of the hotels

Doctors

If you go to the top gate and turn RIGHT you will find 5-10 mins walk a pharmacy on the right hand side that will see to you there and if you have a more serious complaint they will arrange a doctor for you.

We have also provided a telephone number in our useful contacts section.

Maintenence

There is a full time maintenance man who will deal with any daily problems you may have with the villa or the pool and gardens.

He works 7 days a week and is available 24 hours although we do ask not to disturb him after midnight unless you have an emergency. Abdula is also onsite most days to help with all your problems.

Please note that their English is very limited and they are only too pleased to help and do not be fooled by the look on their faces as they are very friendly and happy people.

If you are finding it difficult to communicate please call our management office EXCEL Villas number in useful contacts and they will be only to happy to help.

You can find them at the top gate reception. Remember you are staying in John and Claires Villa at Seven Seas Villas, they like us very much

Refuse Collection

Rubbish is collected daily so please place your rubbish in appropriate bags and your nearest bins are out of the bottom gate turn left and the bin is positioned 25 yards down on the right hand side. If the bin is full just place your bags beside the bin.

Restaurants

There are many to choose from in Torba but we find particularly to our liking the very first one you reach as you walk down to the harbour.

Remember you are in Turkey and they are big on Meze and fish and often you are shown the food to choose as opposed to being handed a menu.

The restaurant opposite the Club Voyage hotel "Menthol" is also very good but you must explore further as this is one of the many delights. Menthol - Also delivers great Pizzas, they speak English and are very helpful.

Supermarkets

The best one local to us is 15 minutes walk from the top gate entrance, turn left out of the gate and walk 15 mins and the supermarket is on the left.

We have a small one only 2 minutes away which is a left turn at the bottom gate next to a very good restaurant they sell all the basics you will need for your stay, from fresh fruit to a good selection of toiletries and they are very friendly but speak limited English.

Taxis

If you want to go to Bodrum leave our villa and walk up to the top gate entrance and across the road on the left hand side you will see a good stop, if you want a longer ride to Bodrum and see a little more of Torba go to the bottom gate entrance and hop on a bus there.

A taxi ride to Bodrum is about 20 lira (£8) and you can telephone a number in the useful contacts section or take a short stroll down to the Club Voyage Hotel where taxis can be found in plenty.
